Eldorado National Forest Interpretive Association

Are you interested in "getting out" for the day or for several days and not especially interested in just golfing? Are you interested in doing something for the forest? Are you interested in helping others enjoy the out-of-doors?

If so, ENFIA has a variety of programs or projects you could get involved with to help out. Currently, ENFIA has four main ongoing projects that are being worked on from time to time. These include:

  • Maintenance and upgrading of the Carson Pass Information Station
  • Staffing of the Carson Pass Information Station
  • Maintenance and upgrading of the Bridal Veil Picnic Area Interpretive Trail
  • Grant writing for funding of future projects
  • Working as a interpretive volunteer at one of the six Eldorado National Forest Offices located within the Forest

Our most popular volunteer project is becoming a docent at Carson Pass Information Station. Docents provide a variety of duties from offering information to visitors on the trails and camping possibilities in the area to caring for the interior of the building and keeping the walkways out front tidy. Docents also sell a variety of merchandise. The merchandise chosen for sale at Carson Pass and each of the Eldorado National Forest Ranger District Offices include maps, books on area related subjects and souvenirs. Proceeds from sales contribute to the improvement and maintenance of the Carson Pass building and grounds.

Training for all volunteer positions is provided to all who participate. All projects that ENFIA is involved with operate under the guidance of the Eldorado National Forest. For other ways to get involved, please contact us.
